Margaret of York, sister of Edward IV and Richard III, married Charles the Rash, Duke of Burgundy, in 1468. She played a full role in Burgundian society and courtly life both before and after the death of Charles in 1477. She maintained excellent relations with Charles’s successors, her step daughter Mary and her husband, Maximilian of Habsburg. She was devout and patronised the arts, religious orders and humanist learning. After Bosworth, she was an ardent supporter of Yorkist claimants against Henry VII. This book is developed from the author’s Ph.D. thesis.
